Keep Anderson in the Majors

Now that it appears that Podsednik will be joining the Sox on opening day and Erstad will be in the starting lineup, Brian Anderson might have to start the season in AAA. Ozzie, please don’t let this happen! Anderson is getting his swing back and the demoralization of a trip back down to the minors will only hurt him, not to mention the benefit of his superior fielding abilities.

I couldn’t agree more, Jake. Anderson is a fantastic talent in the field, and is going to be solid at the plate. It’d be too bad if he was sent down just to make room for a Scott Podsednik that is one of the most overrated players in baseball.

I would love to see the Sox use the same stubborness they used on Joe Crede with Brian Anderson. They left Crede on the field to struggle and work through his problems because they knew he had the skills to succeed. We have all seen some flashes of what Anderson is capable of- now it is time to see if he can do it consistently. Give him the starting job and I think we will see big dividends paid back down the road. Even with his struggles he is still the best field patroller we’ve had in years.
